Supernatural pavilion is project developed for competition organized in Belgrade, Serbia. The brief asked for temporary structure of 35m2 that would stand as a part of music festival organized annually with the theme of ecology and sustainable awareness. Within this agenda the pavilion was required as eco-friendly as well as easy and fast to mount and dismount. Inspired by supernatural phenomenon Aurora Borealis (the northern lights) this proposal suggests the effect of physical materialization of lights and dematerialization of geometry as two main features of the pavilion. As such, the pavilion reacts on visitors in all distances and would have important role in the context of the festival both during the day and night. The outside form of the pavilion is a simple box projecting shadow and light effects on its exterior surface while on inner pergola shaped room there is voluptuous texture encompassing the ceiling and two sides. The juxtaposition between interior and exterior is generating the desired effect of materialization and dematerialization. The structure is composed out of 73 recycled and customized plywood sections stiffen with 1656 square joints. These curvilinear longitudinal connection are following the convex average angles of deformed surfaces and as such are corresponding with the effect generated by cross section elements. The proposed construction method makes the pavilion feasible under the given budget.
